Mind Body & Heart in Harmony
Ki Soma offers Zen Shiatsu and Biodynamic Craniosacral therapies
on Chicago's North Shore.
Zen Shiatsu is a non-invasive body therapy performed with the client fully clothed and at Ki Soma, work is done with the client on a massage table rather than the more traditional floor mat. The Zen Shiatsu technique approaches the body through steady pressure, sustained stretches and gentle joint rotations. Shiatsu is based on the same system of points used in accupuncture but one distinction is its works along the "meridians" that connect these points.
Depending on your needs in a session the touch can be light or quite dynamic. The practitioner makes contact using palms, fingers, elbows or knees. No two sessions will likely ever be exactly the same, just as your body and constitution shift from day to day.
Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy is very gentle and involves sustained, light touch & holds at various points on the body.
Many find being fully clothed more accessible than Swedish or deep tissue massage. Shiatsu literally means "finger pressure". The absence of needles mean those with significant fears might find either type of body work easier to approach than acupuncture.
